The first Windsor-Essex Cadora meeting of the year was  held on Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 at 6:30pm at the Essex Civic Centre.

Windsor-Essex Cadora held another successful meeting at the Essex Civic Centre. Thank you to all members who were able to make it out. Here are some main points from the meeting.

Report from Membership Secretary/Treasurer
Membership Count – 4 National/15 Local
Bank Account Balance - $740.06

Old Business

1. Reviewed changes made to Omnibus at October 2009 meeting.

2. Discussed impressions of 2009 Awards Banquet – all feedback positive.

New Business

1. Rule Change – Proposed rule change that rider’s must submit three (3) scores from two (2) different SHOWS, versus three (3) scores from two (2) different JUDGES. APPROVED – Three scores from two different SHOWS will be used to calculate year-end points. However members would still like to see a variety of judges. Members would like to make this possible by providing a broader list of available out-of-town judges, as well as encouraging more discussion between show hosts.

2. Membership Drive – Members will make personal visits to target barns who had riders competing regularly last year but who were not members. A flyer will be distributed to local barns, tack shops and veterinary clinics promoting the club. A display board will be exhibited at each show. A member will be on site accepting memberships on the spot at all shows (or as many as possible).
ATTTION JUNIOR MEMBERSWe are looking for junior members in need of volunteer hours to represent W-E Cadora at local shows. Your responsibilities will include answering questions about the club next to the display and accepting memberships for a few hours at each show. Please email tousig6@uwindsor.ca if you are interested.

3. Fundraising – We will be seeking sponsorship this year to off-set the cost of the year-end banquet. We will be targeting companies now so that we may advertise for them throughout the season. We are also looking for a prize donation that can be raffled off throughout the show season. Other fundraising ideas were suggested and will be investigated further.

4. Privacy issue on website – It was brought to our attention that some “non-members” may not want their results posted on our site. We are looking to find a solution to this problem that will still allow us to verify the validity and accuracy of our final standings. It was agreed that “show results” from each individual show and “standings” will be posted separately on the website. The standings page will only include members. It was also suggested that a clause be included on all eligible show’s waivers to give the club permission to post all rider’s results. It was agreed that any “non-member” who does not wish to have their results posted on our website will have their name replaced by “name withheld”.

LOOKING FOR FEEDBACKIf any members have any thoughts on this topic or possible suggestions, please email tousig6@uwindsor.ca

Good luck to everyone this show season and thank you to our many show hosts for presenting us with a large number of local showing opportunities this year.
