Scrap of Faith: Women celebrated life together at the first “Scrap of Faith” event on February 21, 2008. We spent the evening making mini lunch bag scrapbooks… and I must say, the ladies work was beautiful! The purpose of “Scrap of Faith” is to celebrate and treasure memories while building relationships with one another. If you are looking for a place to reflect, build relationships and be creative, this event is for you. Watch the current announcements for upcoming “Scrap of Faith” events. We would love to have you join us. click to enlarge pics
IN REVIEW WOMEN OF FAITH MEETING TUES. JAN 8TH
WOMEN OF FAITH Meeting of November 13, 2007
Beth, Shirley, Pam, Linda, Deb, Nan & Margie were present.
Linda Jadischke opened our meeting with a devotion read from Rick Warren’s book “The Purpose Driven Life”. Our focus was on a passage that explained that we were shaped for serving God. “We are simply God’s servants….Each one of us does the work which the Lord gave him to do” 1 Corinthians 3:5-6. “ It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus: and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.” Ephesians 2:10 We discussed how we are all “ministers”, that we all are called to serve God in unique and different ways, and how this equates into our own lives. Our devotion was closed prayerfully by Linda.
Beth brought forth a suggestion from the Deacons regarding an Outreach opportunity. They have suggested that we as a church host a “Chilly Chili Christmas Supper” open to the community. The ladies present, embraced this idea, and discussion was held on the different aspects this project incurs. Reservations, donations, transportation, deliver tosh ut-ins, decorations etc. as well as the menu were discussed. Date decided is Sat. Dec. 15, 4-7pm. A suggestion was made to send flyers with our Chili Order sheets to our customers next week.
We reviewed our plans for the Bazaar on Sat. with relation to the Lunch supplies, baking, etc. We set up tables and priced the goods that had arrived so far. After refreshments, our meeting was concluded.

Margie
opened our time together with devotions based on the scripture verse
Jeremiah
29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord “They are plans
for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.
A
welcome was extended to Christina. We outlined for her our purpose:
devotions, discussion, outreach and planning.
Discussion
on what can be done with the old dishes took place, with several suggestions
offered. - Salvation Army, Etcetera Shop, and / or the Christmas Bazaar.
Our
annual Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sat. Nov. 17, 9-1.
The
menu from last year was reviewed, and a decision was made to continue with
the same. Sign up sheets for volunteers will be at the back
of the church in the coming weeks. Volunteers will be needed for setup
(Friday night), Saturday-Lunch orders, white
elephant
table, bake table, kitchen help and cleanup afterwards. We will need
4doz of squares and /or cookies from each baker. Pies will
also be needed.
The
next chili luncheon will be on Wed. Oct. 31-order sheets will be ready
Sun. Oct. 21, and the supplies to be picked up Sun. Oct. 28th.
We
talked about extending an invitation to new women members to our women’s
meeting as well as participating in the Bazaar. Possible youth involvement
with the Bazaar was also discussed.
Christina
asked if we could continue to pray for the Reform Church in Canada Women’s
Ministries.
They are seeking to fill positions for 3 Regional Synod Co-ordinators.
Our
next women’s meeting will be held on Tues Nov. 13- 7pm . Linda will
lead the devotions and Deb will do the refreshments. Our meeting
ended with prayers.

Nan
provided our devotion
Beth
surprised Nan with a 65th birthday cake!
We
decided we needed to change the date of our monthly meeting, as many were
having a conflict with the first Monday of the month at this time.
We are going to try the second Tuesday of each month for now. Therefore,
our next meeting is Tuesday, Oct 9th, 7pm at the church.
Nan
brought up an issue that the Reformed Church has asked if each church could
form a group that could pray for the health of the RCA in general.
At this time we decided we would include them in our prayer and discussion
at our monthly meeting.

Again
this year, we are asking if the men would be so kind as to clean up for
us. Then all the women could go upstairs for the presentation. (approx.
7pm)
The
men will be rewarded with the tasty leftovers! Our hope is that the women
of FRC will be encouraged to invite someone to join them, maybe a daughter,
neighbour, co-worker, aunt, etc??. Margie talked to Lisa Milec, who then
talked to her business partner Monica Bradner this last week. They are
willing to speak to our women regarding their experience in their local
venture to help women in need. We are hoping for an approximate 20-30 minuite
presentation upstairs in the sanctuary. There will be a bulletin insert
prior to the event, asking for clothing donations. We will set-up the tables
with flowers at our next ladies meeting, Monday, May 7th.
Other Dates:

will pin to their business lunchroom bulletin board. These flyers
will also be pinned to community bulletin boards and at local stores (1

will just bring bazaar leftovers there, which will be more manageable for
her since her son will also have items there that weekend.
This
will give us the opportunity to clean out the parsonage garage.
April 11th Saturday Reformed Church's Spring Women's Conference Drayton , Ontario 9am registration $10/person - coffee and luncheon provided Babysitting available Speaker: Mary Clark Theme: Women Blessing Women Chili for Crisis/Emergency
New
Business:
We
discussed that we felf our chili luncheons could be a benefit to others,
but how? It was decided that we would try to be available to put
meals together when a community crisis happens. Example; The
OPP or Firefighters, families of an unexpected tragedy etc. We thought
we should bring this new idea to the newly formed ""Missions Group" so
they could use us.
Kitchen
Updated/ Chairs for basement 100 chairs
have now been purchased for the basement (Costco @$13.99) We again
discussed ideas for the kitchen, but haven't officially put together a
committee with individual tasks. Kathy V said she would look into getting
quotes for new taps.
We
still need someone to ask an electrician to give us a quote and direction
as to what can be done for a couple new electrical outlets.
We
also discussed the "Habitat for Humanity Store", and whether we might find
useful items there. Iif we can'tt find a non profit group interested in
our old chairs, maybe we could donate them to "Habitat"
We
also wondered what Carrie Wesenburg (Kathy's son) had for sale from his
restuarant business and if there might be something applicable that he
is selling.

Kitchen
Updated/ Chairs for basement: We talked about our wishes for
updates in the basement. It was thought that maybe if we did one
extra chili luncheon in April, we would buy new padded chairs for the basement
(100 @ $15 = $1500 ?). We also discussed what might be needed in
the kitchen, but agreed that a committee needed to be formed so that all
ideas could be considered and thought through.
